National Race Planning Committee
Objective
To establish a coordinated national approach to race planning and scheduling.
Chairman
To be independently chaired by a Director of the ARB as appointed by the ARB.
Membership
Membership to consist of representatives from each Principal Racing Authority

Meetings
The Committee to meet in person once annually and on other occasions by way of teleconference.
Responsibilities
- Review the national thoroughbred racing schedule to ensure a consistent and optimum spread of race dates throughout the week.
- Agree and set a standard weekly thoroughbred template.
- All States to provide draft race dates to ARB by no later than mid January and a meeting/teleconference to be co-ordinated in late January early February to review dates and ensure compliance with template.
- Undertake items referred to it by the ARB from time to time in order to deliver positive outcomes for the industry.
Working Parties
Working parties to be established as required to liaise with industry partners such as broadcasters. These groups need to be manageable in numbers and representation should be developed with the level of TAB racing in each State in mind and the particular matter being investigated.
As an example, activities could include:
- Develop thoroughbred templates
- Develop a night /twilight schedule
- Work with Sky Channel in developing an optimum template to maximise Thoroughbred Wagering
Reporting
The NRPC to report directly to the ARB through independent Chair and liaise with other ARB subcommittees as may be required from time to time.
