Greg Rudolph Named 2005 Recipient of ARB Chairman’s Fellowship
The Australian Racing Board Chairman’s Fellowship has been established to foster young industry leaders in the Thoroughbred Racing Industry. Awarded annually, the Fellowship provides career development opportunities for individuals who are identified as likely significant contributors to the Industry. A travel grant of $10,000 is awarded to support a study mission that recognises demonstrated potential to achieve excellence. Fellows broaden their experience, develop networks and better understand where their activities fit into the local and international scene.
The judging panel is composed of Peter Williams (Company Secretary, Racing Victoria Limited), James Murphy (Corporate Affairs Manager, Racing NSW) and Andrew Harding (Chief Executive, Australian Racing Board Ltd).
The field of applicants for the year 2005 award of the Fellowship was extremely strong with a spread of applications from across Australia. Applications were received from a diverse range of industry fields, including race club management, bloodstock sales, industry training, business analysis and integrity.
Greg Rudolph, Racing NSW Deputy Chairman of Stewards, has been selected as the 2005 recipient of the Chairman’s Fellowship. Greg, 34, is the youngest ever Deputy Chairman of Stewards in New South Wales and has already gained an impressive range of experience in several facets of the racing industry, not only as a Steward but also as an administrator and architect of the new training package for Stewards. Greg’s study mission will focus on a review of steward’s training in the USA and Ireland and the latest developments in rider safety initiatives at a symposium in Tokyo. He will also examine systems for surveillance of betting information that have been developed in these countries.
“This was an extremely strong field of candidates, probably amongst our best ever. That says a great deal about Greg Rudolph in winning this year’s award. He is an outstanding talent.
Once again we have been shown that the Australian racing industry has a wealth of young ability and we thank Warren Block of the Daily Form Service for his generous financial support that assists us in giving encouragement to these exceptional young members of the industry.”(ARB Chief Executive, Mr Andrew Harding)
